You can do it too! Practice practice. Watch the "Ride like a Pro" clips on Youtube or buy the DVD's. It's all centered around head turn, friction zone and keeping tension on the bike with rear brake. There are vids of a 15 year old girl flinging a cop-glide around like she's been doing it for decades.
Two definite no-nos: Look down and you'll GO down.
avoid the front brake like the plague.
Even just going through the video one time you'll find your riding improves exponentially.
A few things I learned just from watching the video (and not really even paying that much attention):
Mr. Front Brake is NOT your friend.
You shouldn't be turning the bars over ~3mph...
Mr. Rear Brake IS your friend.
Yes, a 900lb cruiser can be tossed around like a 300lb sport bike if you know what you're doing.
and last but not least
After watching that video I realized I can't ride for ****.
Just because you haven't dropped it lately, or can make it home alive, does not mean you know how to ride a motorcycle.
Amazing! I'd love to practice those moves, But with a Road Glide that could be over $1500 a practice session. On a fairingless bike the engine guards and handle bars would prevent major drops at slow speed. Do the police practice on their own nickle? John

Reason: addition
I took the Ride Like A Pro class, and although I cannot ride anywhere close to as good as the guy in the video, I would say that I am now a better rider. I have been practicing and have dropped my bike (09 FLHT) 10 times this year already but no biggie... I wrap my crash bars, and its worth it to get better.
Harleytuner,
friction zone is when you let the clutch out (just enough)
for the clutch to start grabbin'
I too purchased the DVD and love it!
Of course if you go out and practice for hours without a break
your clutch will get hot so be careful.
I frequently get comments from some of the people down at
the local Dunkin how I could really whip my Ultra around and
I've only been ridin for less than two years!
Its because of the DVD and practice I'm able to do that.
