There is a long on going thread/debate on here about the car tire option. I believe it was around last week when it surfaced last. If I remember correctly, nobody could find car tire that would mount on the '09 rim. That may be updated now.
My riding buddy says there are threads about this on the Goldwing forums as well. I just have to state the obvious: Why would anyone do this? Automobile tires are not designed to bank, but to run with the tread square on the pavement. Don't know about anyone else, but I spend a fair amount of time banking...
I guess car tires would be cheaper, but I am more than willing to pay the extra $ for something as important as tires. My .02.
I know a huge guy (350) with an equally huge wife who swears by car tires. He is a riding fool, 35k plus per year. He says slight handling differences, no braking differences, 30k miles per tire, 100 bucks each. He has it on a yamazuki of some kind. But I aint gonna do it. Call me chicken.
This forum never ceases to amaze me with some of the things that pop up. Wife and I have just got home from a 2-weeks European tour of 2,500 miles, too much of it in heavy rain and there is no way I would travel unknown roads in bad weather on anything less than the best rubber available.
Sig pic is filthy bike resting en France on the way back home!

Reason: Added para.
I have always used the stock tires with great results. Tires are like oil, everybody has their favorite. I see grbrown is not on stockers. How bout a couple pics from the trip?
