Hmm, ya got me thinking now. I've got these BF Goodrich All-Terrains on my pickup, my Ultra would look pretty snazzy with a pair of those on it!
Think of the hills I could climb, I could probably be the first Ultra, stereo blasting, to get to the top of Widow Maker! And get 40,000 miles out of them!
Yeah, I could even rig up another belt to power the front and have it Two Wheel Drive.
By God, I could be the first person to drive up the side of Mt. Everest!
Finally, I've come up with something no one else has done yet
Automobile tires are not designed to bank, but to run with the tread square on the pavement. Don't know about anyone else, but I spend a fair amount of time banking...
Yep, that's why the tread surface of a motorcycle tire is rounded. With a car tire on there it would probably handle like ****.

I have a buddy that has a VTX1800 and he has been riding with car tires for a few years now. He swears by them and is always telling me that they handle better than a MC tire and it just takes a few days to get used to it, He has been trying to talk me into testing his bike and i've always told him if you have to get used to cornering it then its not right. Well finally he had bothered me enough that I gave in and took his bike for a spin. The bike handled like **** and always wanted to stand up in a turn. I am sure that if I rode it enough I too would get used to it and would actually be able to ride the bike without feeling like i was going to crash at any second. I rode his bike when new when it still had MC tires and it handled great, now it's the bigest POS I have ever been on.
Nice to see all the know nothing opinions on here from people who have no real basis for their own opinion and the so called funny stuff is dry as a bone. I don't think i will do it but i am more interested in hearing from those that have and do than from those frightened of their own shadow.

I think a person could be a little less thin skinned about the jokes on these pages and this topic.
Let's give this some real consideration here about know nothings. How many tire manufacturers and motorcycle manufacturers tout replacing bike tires with car tires?
Does it really take a rocket surgeon to see the designed handling characteristics of both type of tires and their intended use!
I have a friend(almost didn't)who had a CT on his Yamaha, he had a blow out or loss of pressure and the tire and rim seperated causing him to go down in the middle of I-270 in St Louis. Lucky for him the guy behind him, saw his problems and kept the traffic from running over his dumb ***. Saw him yesterday at a PGR mission and he is walking with a walker and cast on his leg. No riding for at least 5-6 months. Oh, and the bike was a total loss.

I'm a little confused. Are you blaming the tire for this or your friend? Are you saying a MT wouldn't have lost pressure or had a blow out?
