Not having many hundreds of $$ to spend on a OEM tour pack, I took a chance on a $124/shipped generic pack on EBay. It's a tad smaller than I expected but still plenty big enough to be useful. The quality is not bad for the cost. The paint matches my black denim quite nicely and I just drilled (4) new holes to match up with the holes on my quick detach mount, so it's easy on and off. It is mounted solid and the backrest is positioned nicely with the box flat on the mount. I have $270 invested and I think it's a pretty decent set-up for the $$... Troop
Not bad, for the money. Keep those hinge pins lubed, or they are likely to rust on ya. Hopefully, the molded hinges won't crack and break off...
This was not an insult, no disrespect intended. Just a few things I see that could be a future problem for ya. I'm still looking for an economical solution that is reliable enough.
Ah, the venerable Mutazu DMY trunk! Well worth the $100 or so you pay for one. I think I gave $109 for one in vivid black a couple years ago for my Nomad. I eventually replaced it with a king tourpak clone, but only because I wanted more capacity. I sold the trunk and it still lives on to this day.
I bought the same one also, it has been very useful, I mounted it on a detachable luggage rack, works great, in fact I very rarely take it off. Wife loves it more than me LOL
I have one I keep transferring from bike to bike. Over 4 years old. Been to Daytona 4 times (with wife using it as a backrest), Myrtle Beach 3 times, Deals Gap 4 times, countless 200 mile weekend jaunts and its crazy.... the hinges are still perfect, molding is perfect, lock still works, no cracks, and the paint is still so-so like the day it came from China
I had an Ultra in there somewhere and believe it or not...preferred the Mutazu over the king tourpak. Only because I take the tourpak off when I get to my destination and that ****** is heavy as ****!
Maybe not for everyone but does the job for you and others it seems. Looks OK to me. I'd much rather have it than some bag strapped to the rear of the bike.
Nothing wrong with them, I used one for almost a year and other than a rattling hasp it worked. fine. it is about half the size of the HD tour pack but will still fit two 3/4 helmets in it but it's full with two helmets.
The bad thing is you will have more money in the mount than the pack.
