My two rear tires started with 9½/32" in the tread groove closest to the center. Maybe our gauges vary in accuracy. Mine's a cheapie from Auto Zone.
Anyway, I'm not complaining. I just changed my first E3 rear at 20k miles and it still had 2/32" remaining.
Got to work and used my 32/nd measuring tool and it was right on the money. My Harley air pressure gague has a 32/nd tool on it and guess what ,it's not right. They must figure you will buy tires sooner if you use their tool! The tire was at exactly 11/32nds.
