i changed my tires by hand last year, took all the weights off, it doesnt have any vibration at all,, did the samething on a sportbike years ago, had it up to 160mph, never had a problem.. motorcycle tires are not any where near as heavy as a car tire, they dont even need ballanced most of the time.. but that is a lot of weight, eather they didnt take the time to rotate the tire to find a better ballance, your rim is bent,or the tire is bad, we had to send a tire back to the manafacture about evry other month at the shop i wrenched at.. by the way, them are led weights on your wheel.. i think they just gave you a line of bs..if they were steel a magnet would stick to them and it would take 3-4 times that to equal the same weight
The weights do not even look put on a solid. They appear to have an air gap under them. How long to you think they can even stay on like that?
Have them fix it right.
At about 10,000 miles on my rear tire I heard a big thud. Thought that I'd kick up a rock. Nope, lost my one an only balance weight from the factory. Glad it was the rear! Don't know where it went but it is gone. Next time if needed will use those beads internally. If they start flying away then I've got serious problems.
Don't like the weights for sure .. I tried Dyna beads with new tires this year and like them. 4k riding, and happy so far. ordered with the tires so no extra shipping, and cost about $20.00
There was a yellow dot on the tire. It was directly above the weights, But as you can see on this new picture, the weights (and the previous yellow dat) are directly opposite of the valve stem. Does this mean the tire should have been rotated 90 degrees?
Like I said, the yellow dot is the light spot of the tire and should be placed inline with the valve stem which is the heaviest spot. Rotating it 180 should reduce the amount of weight needed.
I've never noticed weights on the bikes in the show room????????? (have I missed something?) My new 08 has no weights on it. Kind of agree with J1mmy on this.
since the valve stem is the heaviest spot on the wheel,
I always wondered about this. To be able to install the valve stem, there has to be a hole in the wheel. If you drill a hole, you remove weight. Is the valve stem that much heavier than the material that is removed from the wheel when the hole is drilled?
