I put one on both our bikes and I will probably install extra transmitters on the trucks as well. They take about 5 minutes to install. But as I said, I am deficient in the electronics category so an easy install item made more sense than trying to modify something to work.
I bought a Flash-2-Pass as well. Works excellent. It's completely sealed so you don't have to worry about weather, batteries, etc.

I have the "extra" remote and the HD switch; after opening the remote I concluded that I don't have the necessary soldering skills. Those circuits board are TINY!

I'm using flash 2 pass it enables me to open the garage from all of our 6 vehicles. Without it I could use only 4 garage door openers.

The soldering wasn't bad, a good hot iron and it's pretty easy. Didn't take long, didn't cost anything, and is really a nice addition to my bike.

I have the dual bulb in this bike so I just took power off the high beam circuit. But used the same setup in my 97 Ultra for years with no trouble having voltage to the remote all time. But I did look into it. For anyone that has other then a 12 volt remote or worried about powering it up all the time, you could use this T/D relay board.

Just something to make it more complicated

Has anyone tried to wire to an Auxiliary Accessory Switch Housing Kit (pg 605 in the 2010 accessories book)? It's only $34.95. I found a good place to mount the remote, after modifications, behind the right side panel. Just wondering if this switch would work and look good.

I just went with the accessory switch that is factory mounted and not being used (on my bike) if I was using the acc switch already I would just run it in with the high beams. I tapped into everything under my outer fairing, easy to mount and all wires are easily accessible.

You absolutely have the skills if I do!

There are some great soldering tutorials on the web. The key is tinning the tip and only holding there for a second.

Default 2013 Road King Classic - hooked to left aux switch

Got fed up with admiring the problem and set out to do the mod today.

Thanks, Daytona 1117!

I hooked it up to the aux switch via the deutsch plug under the seat (and the HD two-into-one harness adapter (P/N 70264-94A) - my iSimple audio plugs into the other). I got the extra plugs/pins from JEGS (P/N 10782).

If anyone is interested, I'll post photos.

Use the horn and no worries about having the hi beam power the remote. Beep and you are in plus it is a signal loud and clear to the OL to cap a beer and drop her britches.
