My local Walmart charges about $10/qt for the synthetic 75w-140 and about $4 for the mineral version.

I change all three holes everything 3k. i do the forks every 6k. I know over kill, but a lot of money in my baby, i'm not going to worry about a few extra oil changes as long as she is running smooth and happy. Happy Harley, happy owner...

I change mine every 20,000. My buddy says he changes his because its cheap insurance.
So is flood insurance in the desert. I kind of look at it like this, it's like going to a pay toilet and sitting there when you don't have to take a dump. It's cheap enough but totally unnecessary. I change my engine oil at 5000 and primary at 10000 just as recommended.

I would be changing my oil every couple days. I change my tranny oil @ 10,000 miles using Redline shock proof.

I change mine every oil change, because it's cheap. It also keeps the trans oil cleaner, so all the little iron particles in there don't wind up stuck to your speed o sensor. That caused me a problem with my last bike, an 02 RK.

I run severe gear in the tranny, Formula + in the primary and Amsoil 20-50 in the motor. All get changed out every 5,000.

Man, some of you really like overkill with service. I go by the manual, and have since 1973, and have not had any resultant problems with numerous Harleys. I've got to the age that I would rather ride than tinker with my bike. But that's just me. Do what makes you feel good.
