Getting set to do the 10K Service on my 09 and was just looking at the HD maintenance schedule.. It says to change the Trans fluid at 1K and then not again till 20K. Hell, I've been changing mine every 3K.
Is this a typo? Do other year manuals say the same thing?
Trans w/Redline every 10k here. But, yes my manual says the same thing as yours. Also says 50k for fork fluid and I wouldn't go that long with that either.
Hey Clint55, Just North of you by a few hours, anyways, fwiw I change my trans. oil twice a season, after two oil changes then just before I put the bike away for the winter .
It is then ready for Spring/Summer following season.
I am currently using Bel Ray Gear Saver SAE80Wand no issues to date.

I guess I'll change my tranny oil schedule to every other engine oil change and save some of that perfectly good beer money.
I do all 3 holes every time I change. It's just as easy to do them all at the same time, the transmission is the easiest to do all. Makes me feel important
My 07 manual says the same...changed at 1k 20k, 40k and just changed it again for the hel of it with a bottle of WalMart 75w140 just to see if i would tell a difference between that and severe gear and not a damn bit of difference so from now on guess what is going in it... i will do a visual check in a clear plastic cup and make a judgement call...put about 15-22k miles a year on the bike so twice a year i guess would be ok...20k miles the oil was a bit dirty but really not that bad...
