well finally got the ultra cool oil cooler installed works great this is a themal sensor activated oil cooler. i bought it from drew at dr.v-twin at first i was pissed not at drew but the maker of this product no instructions in the box and on line it tells u about 2 wires thats it. 1 ground and one hot wire after speaking to the owner who makes this product i wired it my way. there are 3 wires 1 black 1 red and one ground it says to connect the red lead wire to the open hot wire behind the head lite but it looked like crap going up the down tubes into the fairing. so what i did was take the same red lead wire and i spliced into the rear break switch wire cuz it needs to be wired to a switched wire. i ran the wire down to lower frame and tie wrapped it ok that done. now u take the black wire and run it down the lower frame now u take out the heat sensor and look at the oil pan and right next the oil drain plug there is a allen head u take that out and u thread the sensor in the pan but have a drain pan ready cuz u will lose some oil. ok thats done now u take the long black wire and u put a connecter on and that plugs on the heat sensor now there is a short ground wire i tossed it and i made my own the same lenth as the black wire to the sensor the instructions on this wire is to put on the factory threaded stud where the regulator use to mount. i used that mount but made another long wire and that plugs into the sensor thats it done and this fan works really well kicks in at 220 degrees and shuts off at 190 degrees. i was in traffic today and my rear cylinder did not shut off once bike runs so cool better performance and power on my 103. i know this is a small book but if u ever need any help to install one just let me know. again this is the best investment u could make to keep u ride running cool. and last but not least i would like to thank drew and shawn these guys are great people and they do care about there customers i would recommend dr vtwin to anyone who asks and i would highly recommend this oil cooler guys it does what it is suppose to do save your motor from over heating. thanks for listening ride safe everyone. Rick, glad to hear you finally got it all sorted out. Thanks for your business and your patience with the install instructions. As you know we are here to get you all the help and info you need.
It is a nice write-up. It would be even better with some pics, though.
I was trying to find it on Dr. V's website, but am still looking. Any chance you could be a little more specific about the name of the oil cooler or the manufacturer. A keyword search on Dr. V's , using "ultra cool oil cooler" returns 0 results..
Harpoonman, if you go to post number 2 , you will see that Dr V is a site sponsor.
I agree that pictures would be a welcome to the diary, but after all he had his hands full with wiring and plumbing during the install.
