Try riding with foam earplugs. It cuts out the wind noise and you can hear the stereo at any speed. I have the stock speakers and radio in my 01 Ultra (which are not that great) and when I am at highway speed with the earplugs in, it sounds like the music is coming through headphones. The better windscreen and upgraded sound system will help as well I am sure, but the ear plugs are way cheaper. Converting the bike would cost you twice. The cost of the conversion and lost value down the road. If you really don't want the RG, trade it for a SG. As already said, you will be way ahead.
Even before trying new speakers or an amp, try a real working windshield and not some "fashion" melted windshield.
Here's one that does not look too bad and works awesome. I can hear my speakers just fine now. And the wind protection is perfect for my 5'9" frame.
I regularly do 500 mile runs with this windshield...

Here is my 10". It looks better but the wind protection is not as good as the 12". I can hear the stereo with this one too.
if the RG is so great why dont they use them for LEOS?
Im guessing its because of the reduced frontal visibility in tight, slow moving situations. Parade/escort/in and around slow moving traffic, etc. Ive noticed that in least my area, the cops ride mostly Road Kings, especially the city/town cops. When I do see batwing cop bikes, they are more often than not Highway Patrol bikes.

I am going to agreee with you, your bike does still look HOT.
getting the wind out of your ear area is the best thing to do to hear a radio.
Let me know what you figure out here.......i have been considering the same thing.
I wound up biting the bullet and trading it on a 2010 Sunglo Red Street Glide. Too each their own but, I like the SG much better. I should have followed my initial instinct but, I didn't so I paid the price...no pun intended.
well, good for you. not just anyone can ride a roadglide. there are all kinds of tests and things that one must do first. i can't tell you more, otherwise it wouldn't be a secret any longer.....
congrats on the new ride, hope you're happy with it.
