I went down to one rotor. I stayed with the stock caliper. Changed out my master cylinder. I would guess it is safe to say I lost about half of my braking ability I plan on looking into a new caliper (6 piston). I truly noticed the differance but I ran out of money and had to get my bike back together!

I run a 13 inch rotor with a HHI 6 piston caliper and changed the master cylinder out to a single disk one. Stops on a dime..

I have also changed out the stock master cylinder with a single disk one and used one stock caliper for a few guys. They seem to be just stopping fine..

06 street glide, shaved the right caliper bracket and used a brembo left side caliper and rotor (brembo rotor slightly larger than a regular rotor). About the same as riding a fat boy or heritage, which don't weigh that much less than a street glide. Also used a 9/16" (single sided) master cylinder, along with ss braided line.

Without meaning to sound stupid, what do you mean you "shaved" the caliper bracket? I am considering the single setup and have a chrome front end. If I am picturing the shaving concept you ground it down, but not possible with chrome the same way is it?

Shaved the bracket before the leg was chromed. You can also buy the chrome legs (from fat baggers), with the right side caliper bracker already shaved. Nothing wrong with leaving the bracket on, shaving it just cleans up the leg a bit.

Considering HD is pretty stingy with braking power to begin with, and only the touring bikes and V-Rod even have dual discs, I'm thinking the MoCo's engineers decided that they needed the brakes.

Just a theory.

But hey, for those of you who prefer form over function, go for it. Its your ride and your hide.

Boy, That doesn't sound like a very good idea at all. Why would anyone remove 50% of their brakes. My 2009 stops well but I have in more than one instance had the forks sucked up stopping. Just sayin.
