Default Paul Yaffe Monkey Bars---HELP

I want to install a set of Paul Yaffe 12" Monkey Bars on a 2010 Streetglide. I am a bit worried about tackling this job myself. Really, how hard of a job is it? Will I be pulling out my hair (What I have left.).Also,does anybody have a list of what other parts I will need for the install. Like cables, wire extensions, brake line ETC.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated..........Thanks.....

Two words of advice from me

1) Get the supersize kit from Paul too, it has the necessary cables in it.
2) On a scale of 1 - 10 in difficulty, this job is about an 8. It is very hard to get the wires through the bars unless you do a lot of that type of work. There are a lot of steps to it including moving your clip blocks by the radio, installing new brakes lines and bleeding. Installing a new clutch cable

The guy that installed mine needed 10 hours and he said it wasn't easy

Good luck with it...I super love the bars, very comfortable and extremely good looking (IMO)

If you send your controls to paul yaffe they will wire them for you for about $175. Other than that it is a very easy job, just time consuming.

My 12" bars are on order, with all the extensions too.

Here's my take on doing this myself:

Yea, I'm a pretty good wrench and I have the shop manual. There is no doubt I can do this install. Here's the kicker...I work all week and have 5 and 6 year old boys. My time is precious in my house and when the weekend comes, I'm on Dad detail. That's my choice.

For my house hold, if I dig myself in the garage for an entire Saturday messing with installing these bars, kids and wife are gonna say somethin like "WTF". That could be a free pass to ride another day.

I get it, "....learned alot doing it myself..." but my TIME is more valuable than my shop's install fee.

Weigh your time vs. liabilities vs. cash needed.

I'm leanin' toward letting my shop install the bars during the week while I earn a living to pay them.

Either way it will cost me.....cash or family????

Your no different than anybody else. I too have the same situation. When I did mine my boys were out there in the garage with me handing me tools. I didnt go out to thge garage and bury my head in the project fot ten hours in one crack. I would work on it in two hour blocks. Usually after the kids go to bed.

I got lucky...my buddy did mine while I was away on a business trip and installed my PCV5 Auto tuners for $300 total. I owe him some cold ones...he had about 10 hours into the bars alone

You guys will love the new bars, totally changes your bike into a custom hot rod!

Do you have someone pushing the wires as your are pulling. On the new throttle wire block is where I had my problem. I got it all back together, everything worked except the throttle...Grrrr! Took it all back a part and the throttle connecter had unplugged in the tugging war. I had wraped it with electrical tape but that didn't work. I super glued it that bastage and no problem the second go around.

I probably should have done more research because HD has a throttle with no plug and my dealer actually keeps them in stock which was a shocker to me. If I had it to do over I would have just picked one of those up and hung the original on a shelf.

I'm only doing 10"s so i don't need any additional cables. Just do your research, theres plenty of threads on the subject. I just don't want to spend the $700-800 i was quoted to have them installed.
Heres a good link with photos
