Paul Yaffe Monkey Bars---HELP
I was helping a buddy internally wire his via the "internet". I'll post some of my tips here. Hope this helps someone.
Prep your work space:
Take a blanket and lay it over your kitchen table. Take the bars, the controls..all your stuff and place them on the table. You need to be sitting down comfortably to do this job. Get your ash tray or bottle of Jack ready too because you are going to need drugs...
I didn't want to buy the TBW sensor that does not have the green connector (p/n: 32310-08). Having the green connector in the way makes it super difficult with these bars. I used heat shrink over the green connector to smooth it out so it wouldn't get caught in the corners as easy. It still did and I had to play with it during the process. Pain... It can be done though. However, don't be a cheap-*** like me and go pick up 32210-08.
Prep the controls wires:
Take all the control wires out of their connectors.
Count about 3-4 inches from the clam shell on each side and then cut and remove the factory outer wire shield from the control wires. The 3-4 inches is to protect the wires going through the bar holes during final assembly. Then use heat shrink to cover all the wires all the way down except for the last 10 inches of wire. You'll see why in a second...
Run the wires:
I ran the TBW wires first leaving the green connector out about 5-6 inches before attempting the right side control wires. The Green connector was located about where the hand grip would be is what I mean, so it doesn't get in the way of the other control wires your getting ready to run. Run your string or weed wacker cord down the right side control wire hole and down the bars to the CORNER and out the corner hole. Attach the control wires to the guide string and pull them down using some light oil or grease or whatever to help glide them through. It helps to push and pull at the same time.
The last 10 inches of the control wires should not have heat shrink on them. One wire at a time guide a wire back into the corner hole and then down towards the center hole and pull it out. Do this for all the remaining wires. This makes it much easier in my opinion. Once you get all the wires through, grab all the wires, TBW included, and pull everything together making the green connector go down the bars with the other wires and making the sensor seat. I know....Pain in the A!
Left side wires... same but without the TBW in the way obviously. Much easier.
Then take all the wires sticking out of the center hole and cover them with heat shrink, maybe using some of the factory shield to protect them coming out of the hole.
Assemble the connectors.
Take a drink because that job was awful and your throat is dry because of all the cussing...

I found good use for a extra long zip tie. I ran the zip tie through the bars and attached the cables with shrink tube to the zip tie. I lubed them up real good and got them through. My wife helped push the cable will I pulled the.
i took mine apart, everything was going fine. Until, i jacked up the throttle side wiring after 6 hours of trying to get the wires around the bend. ended up taking the bars and controls to the hd dealer and letting them wire them for me. i had to buy a new tbw assembly and rewire from the controls down.
Hey Flight and you other guys/gals with the monkey bars. How is the angle of the grips and controls on the monkey bars. I currently have stock bars on my '10 street glide and after a few miles the angle my hands are in kills my left wrist. Of course its been broke 3 times, dang dirt bikes. Sorry not tryin to hijack the thread but lookin for apes that'll make my hands and wrist in more of a straight line when riding. Definately gonna get apes about the height of Flights. thanks
