Anyone close to Hershey, PA have a Corbin Dual Tour on Their EG that I could check out?
I'd like to sit in one of these saddles before I buy but no one stocks them. I'm currently using the Mustang seat but that seat raised me up about an inch which wasn't a good thing. I lowered both the front and rear of the bike hoping the Mustang would be OK for me as I like the seating position of the Mustang alot except for the height. My goal is to get flat footed rather then on my toes.
Right now it's between the Sundowner or the Corbin.
I have an 05 Ultra, not close to you either, sorry. But, I wanted a more comfortable seat than the Comfort Stitch, decided on Corbin (the Sundowner was a combination of either too high or too wide, net result, I couldn't reach the ground). My inseam is 30" I"m 5' 9".
Anyway, I decided on a Corbin (couldn't find one to sit on any place either). I called, explained what I wanted ie.. No higher off the ground, perhaps a narrower nose, and even sitting an inch further back. They took my measurments over the phone and told me I could send it back repeatedly for refitting if required. (at my shipping cost).
Long story short... The Corbin is very, VERY comfortable. The narrowed the nose, moved me back. But I am absolutely at least an inch higher on the bike. With the OEM Comfort stitch I could reach the ground flat footed. With the Corbin I'm on the ***** of my feet. I got used to it so didn't send it back. The funny thing is this. When I'm alone on the bike with the Corbin (90% of the time I ride solo), I'm on the ***** of my feet. With a 120 lb passenger, I'm flat footed. I assume the when I rode 2 up with the Comfort stitch the same thing happened, but I didn't notice since I was flat footed anyway.
I ordered a Corbin DualTour sight unseen. They say it takes a little while to break in but mine was firm but comfortable from day one. I can sit in it all day, some 12 to 14 hour days, no problem. I have about forty thousand miles in it and I have no complaints.
The above post are (in my opinion) a very good cross section on Corbin seats - I am lucky enough to live with in a 1.5 hour ride of the Hollister factory - I am on my third HD since 96 and all have had the corbin - The last two were built during a "ride in appoitment" I got there at 0800 and left at 2pm with a custom seat fit to my butt. If I met you at a Harley ride I would say go ahead and have a seat on my bike - However, most Corbins are built to their owners specs - so sitting on my seat may not feel right for You. I would suggest you call Corbin or check their web site http://www.corbin.com/%63%67i-%62i%6...&view_search=1 I did a search on your area code and foun 54 dealers = I have heard some real horror stories about mail order from Corbin... My suggestion to anyone doing mail order with them.. each time you get someone on the phone... keep a log... Person talked to, promises made, date and time of call, get phone ext... and keep calling. I love my Corbin, but thier "Feel" is not for everyone. good luck...
Any good seat is Expensive - go cheap on a week ride and about have way through you will Wish you spent the extra money the first time... My wife and the Tec at Corbin had a "fun" time building her back seat - the nice thing about the ride in - adj a little, go for a ride, adj some more, go for another ride... being able to come back in and talk to the tec and explain to him = not right here, rubs here.. ect...
Thanks for the responses. Money isn't an issue as I'm willing to spend whatever it takes to get the right thing. As I said, compared with the Mustang, the Corbin must keep me lower to the groung to be flat footed and not quite as wide as the Mustang. The Mustang moved me back an inch which was great but also higher an inch. I think the Mustang is very comfortable as I ride all day long on that seat with no hot spots. I wish I was more secure with the seat when stopping. I even went to Butt Buffer in Ephrata to see if I could get the seat more customized for my needs as they reshape seats and insert gel pads for comfort. The owner told me that he can't work on Mustang seats as the covers are glued to the foam and riveted to the base pan. I went to the Corbin site and searched for dealers in the whole State of PA. Called maybe 20 dealers but no one stocks any Corbin seats. I would think that if Corbin really wanted a dealer network they would provide high volume sellers samples of different seats for show.
