Yes, be aware that the download will more than likely fail the first time. I recently upgraded both software and firmware on mine and it took me 3 tries before it completed successfully.
Thanks for the tip. I went back and installed the firmware again and it took on the 3rd try also. I took it for a short ride without the firmware correctly installed and it ran like crap. Came back home and read your reply.
A couple important notes: The new software and firmware are a bit different than earlier models and it is important that when you do the upate that it runs without any errors. If there is an error run it again and make sure is says "firmware update sucessful" when finished. You can verify that the FW updated properly by connecting to the USB software, starting the bike and watching the live data, if the FW does not update correctly the TPM and RPM will not stream. Also note if you update to 1.4.0 FW, you will not be able to return to an earlier version.
Can someone explain how to tell if your running the current PC-V and Auto Tune software/firmware, and if not, the procedure to perform the upgrade. Thanks in advance...........Rich
Load the PC software and connect the PCV to the computer. Under View > Device Information it will show your firmware version. For the software version go to Help > About and it is listed as "Application Version."
It took me three tries to update my firmware too. I still have a problem at times with my idle dropping down. When I'm still rolling as I'm stopping, at times it'll drop to around 750 800 rpms. After I reach a complete stop, it comes up to normal. The bike still doesn't run quite right until I pull over, shut it off, turn the key on until the check engine light goes out, turn the key off and repeat, then when I start the bike up, runs perfect. It's weird. Has anyone come across this? Talked to a foreman at the dealer and he blames the PCV. That figures.
Mongo,
Mine does that also from time to time. Seems that when rolling to a stop the RPM's are slow to come down then dive alomst to a stall before recovering. Then the rpm sits at like 1300 for a minute or so. Hoping that a software/firmware update will fix this. Anyone else have any input on this.... Jaime????
my bike sticks at 12-1500 for a few secs, then drops right down. Very annoying, sounds like you forgot to take your hand off the throttle.......... Seems par for the course with this PCV.....
I'm a big fan of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it.." What has the new SW/FW improved or fixed? I ask this Q simply because I see a lot of issues on this thread alone...
