Wanted to mention, the RK w/hardbags are one one
my favorites. As far as asking questions, I never worry
about it when joining a Forum. Some questions may get
beat to death but no one has to respond. Alot of good
people here that don't mind repeating themselves. It
would take forever to research everything you might be
interested in as there is a ton of info here, mostly good.
It doesn't have to cost a bundle to get these 07 and newer Touring bikes to sound and run good. I think it depends on how far you want to go with the engine and your riding style. I leave my motor's stock except Exhaust and AF. I don't do parade or much stoplight to stoplight running. I'm retired and I do 90% of my riding in the mtn's. If you do some reading, you will find out just how capable these ECM's are. I went with Xied's on my 08 UC and the new FL-Xied's on my wifes 2010 SG Trike. Both run great and not many $$$. If I were going with a Tuner, I would probably buy the TTS Mastertune. JMO
I run the PCV with Auto Tune and Rinehart True Duals and I really like it very much. Call Jamie at fuel moto he will be quite informitive. As far as Vance and Hines I have heard good things and deals can be a good thing also.
As far as aksed too much that is what this place is about we all did not start at the same time and have read every thread. There are a lot of very imformative people on here who will help most everyone out unlesss your an A**H0le
Good looking bike man! Ride safe and stop smiling already!
I've run the Vance & Hines true duals setup on both of my dressers. That gives it more of the Harley sound you lose with fuel injection. As far as the mufflers, I ran Python slash cut pipes on my Electraglide. They sounded great, not too loud until you romped down on it. My Street Glide had aftermarket mufflers that sound great so I left them alone (Not sure what they are though). I changed the headpipes to the V&H true duals. I ran aftermarket air filters and Power Commanders on both bikes. Works great for me.
Fuel-Moto is your answer. They can supply you a great package deal of pipes, air cleaner and tuner that will have a custom map for your bike.. plus all the programs you'll need to continue to tweak it if you want to.
The "Stage 1" flash from Harley, or anything from Harley still has to conform to the EPA standards until you get into SERT (Screaming Eagle Race Tuner) which is another form of EFI device.
The basic problem is that HD meets the Environmental Protection Standards by leaning out the engine. This makes it run hot and at less than optimum power. Adding pipes, a free flow air cleaner and then a EFI control device fixes this by breakign all the EPA rules that Harley can't break.
Sounds like your education in drag races would make you prime for this. Call Jaime and Fuel Moto and he'll set you up perfect. Or, do it yourself, but my experience and thousounds of others on here like's Jaime's support and prices.
+1 Fuel Moto. A few months ago I bought an 07 RK Custom. The PO had the dealer install a stage one, Rush slip ons and an ECM flash. I was unhappy with the sound and the popping during decel. After researching the tremendous amount of quality info on this site (compliments to all) I called FM. Jamie and Keith were a real pleasure to deal with and I am now totally pleased with my Jackpots and PClll.
I run a Propipe BP on my Ultra and like it. It sounds great and is loud, but not as loud as my wifes Heritage with Rush muffs and 1.75" baffles. I also use a Zippers Thundermax ECM, which allows me to make adjustments with my laptop. Very happy with the set-up, been in place for 25,000 miles.
I had the 2 into 1 Pro-Pipe on my Heritage. I ran it with and without the quiet baffle. Without the baffle, I set off car alarms on Main Street. With the baffles not so much, but it still had a great sound. It's also one of the best mufflers for power.
You know people @ V&H? Are you in So. Cal.? If so, take a ride to "Cook's Corner" some weekend. Usually hundreds of bikes there on weekends... you can listen to ALL kinds of exhaust combos. Ask lots of questions (everyone loves to talk about their bikes) exhausts can be expensive so you want to make sure you get what you like the first time. That said, I really like my Rinehart true duals! And +1 on the Fuel Moto advise!
