My buddy just bought his first Harley, it's an 2008 RoadKing. On the odometer on the Spedo it has the standard 2 trips, clock and odometer. However there is another thing that is a R123 or a random series of numbers. Like R123,R154 and so on. Anyone know what this is please? Thanks.
The speedometer on 2008 and later models incorporate a "remaining miles on the tank" feature. Hence the "R" for remaining. It seems to be fairly accurate. If the bike gets around 50 MPG on the road, the remaining mileage on the tank will be about 300 miles for a six gallon tank that is completely full.
From my experience on an 08 EGC and my new Ultra Limited the fuel gauge is about as accurate as the ambient air temp. gauge, but the fuel/miles remain read out is extremely accurate.
Thanks much guys. I have never seen anything like that before but thats pretty cool. The touring bike always have all the cool stuff. Thanks guys for the info!
Nice having all the "bells & whistles" on the touring bike & this feature's nice because I don't ever want to push this 800+ lb. bike more than it takes to get out of the garage. Going from a Sporty to Touring is like adding two more passengers to the bike. Heavy, but comfy!
