That's too bad, personally I like keeping my fuel doors locked, even if someone that has a barrel key can open them. I keep my fuel doors locked on my other vehicles too.

It was me who started a post a couple of weeks back. I was on the road, on tour and on empty!

I would not close the flap with that lock fitted if it were me! I have ordered the lockable push button, interested in Dawg's comment about reduced price for warranty upgrade - my dealer never offered me that although he did replace the lock immediately to be fair

I have no confidence in these locks, sooner it is off the better.

 

I was a little worried about that to and thought about it long and hard but I don't think any body is that hard uo for 2 or 3 gal. of gas to risk the rath of a BIKER

I road the Limited to Daytona from Savannah, Georgia and got very tired of digging the barrel key out of my pocket on the way down to get gas.......so I bought a button at bruce rossmeyer's HD and replaced it in about 15 minutes in the parking lot before departing Daytona.....

All you need is a flathead screwdriver (two screws on the hinge)...(or a very small 6 point socket.....I had a snap-on kit in my bag with small screw driver)...and an adjustable wrench for the plastic nut on the back of the lock cylinder...

Yes you do replace the hinge (it's included in the kit)....the new one is bigger......the instructions that come with the kit are very good......you'll have no problems.....good luck...

 

Had a push button on my 06 and loved it and had no problems. Like bluegrassboy says, get tired of digging key out everytime you need to fill up on a long trip. Probably the next thing I will do.
