Default Americade 2010 Experience

I just got back on Sat from Americade in Lake George. Ive been up there a couple years back just for the end of the week Fri/Sat and really wanted the chance to stay out there for the week to really experience it.
What a trip it was. The weather was not the best but certainly could have been worse with periods of rain here and there but no total wash outs.
I went up with my parents and girlfriend and was easily some of the best riding i have done. The roads and the people are what made the trip great. Americade really seems to have "Riders" up there and love to tell there stories of where they have been and where you should go. Just all around great.
We went to Lake Champlain, Ausable chasm, and Lake Placid, and just toured some road Rt's around the area. Put on a little over 500 miles, not extreme but enough to see everything Americade has to offer and get some great riding in as well.
I have a few pictures to share, we took well over 700+ pictures but just wanted to show some of the main ones to basically sum up my experience. I will be coming back for the week for years to come

Very nice photos. Thanks for reminding me of how much I enjoyed my last trip up to that part of the country. I need to go back again. You are correct, both the roads and the locals are great.

Very nice..glad you had a good time. I live only a few hours from Lake George and I avoid Americade like the plague. We went down there last year and parking was awful...traffic was even worse. Guess I'm just not into that scene anymore. I feel the exact same way about Laconia. Sounds like you had a good time though!

I just got home yesterday from the Americade also. My pictures are not as good as yours! I live very close to Laconia, yet I enjoy the Americade more. (maybe because I have done Laconia for most of my adult life) From what I understand, there is a chance the Americade will be moved to Vermont next year if the Americade and State officials cannot meet an agreement on the rent for the million dollar beach. It went from 52,000 to over a 100,000 in just one year. A price that local business and hotels helped with this year to make sure Americade happened in Lake George. I hope they work it out, I love Lake George and its a nice trip from New Hampshire to LG. The officials say if it is moved, it will not be NY, bit some part of Vermont.

The rumor of Americade being moved from Lk. George have been circulating for a few yrs now. If I were a resident of the village who wasn't dependent on the money brought in by the rally I wouldn't want the congestion and noise of the rally either. But for the businessman who profits from it, it has to be a nice shot in the arm. Tough call to make. The area and Adirondack region is a beautiful place but you don't need the Americade to enjoy it. Come and ride it anytime you wish.

Glad you had a good time. I went to Americade with my parents about 18 years ago and had a good time. Beautiful part of the country up there, except during the winter when it gets cold

Thanks for sharing the pics. The ride from Lake George up to Lake Placid is breathtaking. The whole Adirondack region is really great riding. Two years ago we did Americade, last year we went across the Adirondacks into Vermont and did the Green Mountains. This year hope to get back up to the Adirondacks again. I have lived in Western New York all my life and the Adirondacks and the St. Lawrence are areas that can compete with any beautiful areas in the country.

Thanx for the pictures... recognized most of the locations from memory. Awesome riding will be in Placid for the Fourth of July. they have a Bar-B-Cue competition at the speedd skating rink, band, parade and fireworks. Usuually it is warm enough... not last year rain and cold.

Yea..Its actually not to bad once you figure it out. You pay 10 dollars for a parking pass for the whole week. Lets you park in any legal spot downtown by the lake and in the big field by the tour expo. We really never had a hard time parking. Obviously you do have to do a little searching sometimes but you do end up finding a spot in a resonable time period.
nhbiker1961 i heard this also and its true. Sad actually, but if they do threaten to leave Lake George next year and go to Vermont it probably will force the state officials to rethink the increase they are trying to impose. They can never let a good thing stay a good thing.
teedubya, I agree it could be a nuisance for the local community to some, but for one week ...cmonnn lol..They would have to say the same thing about the car show in September then. Im sure a lot of the local community also work in the lake George region too and like the increase in business, but who knows. I guess time will tell.

We do occasionally go up for the weekend throughout the summer but normally cant do much riding because of the limited time. This was the first time i really had some time to do riding around the area and really enjoyed it. Just when you think you've seen a lot, there's always more to see.
