Other then ripping the black plastic cover off of the ignition key, is there another way of obtaining the key code?

 

I don't think you have to ripping the black plastic cover off. It's not glued on. It will slide off with a little effort. I suppose the dealer could look up the key code with your VIN if you were at the dealer.

 

The key should slide out of the plastic jacket, thats how I retrieved the key codes for the
last 3 bikes.

Did you buy the bike new? There was a plastic taggesd attached to the extra key the dealer gave me that has the Key Code and also a sticker on the keys when I got my new 08 EG Classic. I beleive thats what you're tallking about? I hope Ive helped.
