Congrats on the trade up, I did the same thing last year. The Sportster Sport always felt too small for me, even with the forward controls and I'm not a bug guy.

Conrats on the purchase....advice would be

1. Believe half of what you read here
2. Don't worry about hijacked threads..it happens
3. Must develope a large ego to go along with your large bike

Follow these rules/advice and you'll get along fine with touring riders

Congrats !. I too went from '02 Sporty to '06 RKC to '09 Ultra. Still have the Sporty as I traded RKC in for a new Ultra.

Enjoy,

I have a 2010 Road King. Here's a couple of thoughts. The stock handle bars are too wide and too far forward for many people. They are for me and I'm 6'3", so I got Heritage Stlye bars. Part # 56902-08. $79.95. Page 591 in the 2010 parts catalog. They have 3 more inches of pullback which make them much more comfortable.

The seat on the 2010 Road King is not comfortable compared to my 2006 Road King (my opinion). I bought a Mustang Vintage Solo seat which is very comfortable. $300 for the solo seat. If you're not riding solo, I think they have a the same seat designed for two up. Don't know the cost. Before you buy a seat, find a bike that has what you think you want first. Make sure it fits!! I've read many posts on this website where people buy seats and then don't like them.

Your 2010 Road King has a catalytic converter in the head pipe. When I get $1,500 that I can "spare". I'm going to have the stock head pipes removed and replace them with "true duals" and have a Stage 1 done too. I have Rinehart slip-ons now, so I'll probably stay with those. That cat. converter has got to go in my opinion.

I understand that you just paid a lot of money for your Road King, but as time goes by, and money becomes available, you may want to consider these things.

My $0.02.
