I have had a Sundowner on my bike for about 10k miles now. I took a long trip in April and after about 5 or 6 hours my butt really started to ache and I felt like I was sitting on the seat pan and not the foam. I hadn't had a problem on the shorter weekend trips of 200-300 miles so I figured I would get a gel pad or foam or something to make it a bit more comfy for long trips.
I had a local shop, http://www.texasharleyseats.com, add a gel pad and had it re-covered. I haven't taken a long trip yet but it already feels just a little firmer and I am hoping I won't get the "pan in the azz" again.
Bought a used Sundowner from a member here on the Forum and love it. Like most others have stated already a big improvement over the stock seat.
Course I've been wanting a Solo setup since all my riding is solo and just purchased a Mustang Vintage Solo with the backrest. Looking forward to comparing it to the Sundowner.

I have Sundowners on my Wide Glide, and my RKC. Great seat, but some don't like the bulky look. Screw it; ya can't see it if you're sitting on it. Do you wanna impress the rubber-neckers or your butt?!?!?
I just bought an 06 Road King Classic in Dec, I went from the stock seat to a reach seat caus my legs are kinda short 30 inch inseam even though i'm 6 ft tall (reach seat felt like sitting on my nuts) so I went to a sundowner and LOVE IT. I also got a custom solo seat from C&C seats for shorter rides around town and love that seat also, but for longer rides sundowner for sure!! Good luck
