I'm closing in on 100k, on three baggers (combined) and I've been all over the US on them. I've only had to come home on a trailer once. It was a 2500 trailer ride (quite embarassing, I might add) from Billings Mt all the way back to Dallas this past June.

Problem ended up being no major deal and something I could have fixed (and did once I got home and figured out what it was). The compensator sprocket had come loose. Symptomatically, it sounded like the motor was about to grenade itself so I figured "better safe than stupid" and I was not about to pay a strange to work on my bike when I knew I could fix it myself.

Never been stranded. Not even any issues at all. All lines of bikes Harley or metric are going to have a bike here and there that will have problems, they are machines.

17000 on my 05 RoadGlide and zero mechanical problems. I only had problems with the fuel gauge, horn, and bag latches, all easily fixed under warranty. I had the same questions and considered a Goldwing myself but I have no regrets with my Roadglide. I heard the Goldwings have had some problems with the frame welds.

Anyway try to go to the dealer that is having Demo rides and take em all for a JOY RIDE! try em trust me you will never look back, besides you will always get your money back and they don't break down, leak oil or loose parts!!!! Old saying, If it has **** or wheels it will give you problems, Everything at one time or another will or could leave you stranded, doesnt matter WHAT brand you buy, Hondas break down, yamahas, and evry other jap ,brit, or american yes harleys too, read other forums and you will see, my advise is, buy what you like best, but remember, all those others are just transportation, Harley is an experance. And yes, If we have to explain, then you probly wouldn't understand.

I had a flat once, but I wouldn't say I was stranded. Yeah I was over 400 miles from home but HOG (Harley Owners Group) is only a phone call away. 1 hour later my bike was on a trailer heading to the closest HD dealer. Is their a MOG (Metric Owners Group) out their that will do the same?

I had 3 metric bikes, V65 Magna, VF700 Magna, and a Yamaha FJ 1200. Both Honda's were rock solid dependable and the Yamaha was a piece of crap. I decided to try a Harley and have never even thought about anything else. I had an 01 FXDX and now a 06 Road Glide. Liked the Dyna, love the 'Glide. Never had any problems. Like we say in my business, "take care of your equipment and it will take care of you." my 2 cents.
