Reason I ask is I'm selling my Triumph......my first non Jap bike ever. Fun bike but in less than 3K mi ('06 model)....it's had an oil leak and recently tonight has died on me 3 times....luckily it started long enough to get it back home to the garage.
I really wanna go Road Glide as my next bike.....but I must admit I'm considering another Jap bike of some sort instead (Nomad....Wing..etc)....simply b/c I've put 70K between 2 of my Hondas alone....and not a lick of trouble of any kind....nothing. And I ride my bikes hard.
Just don't wanna go down the road of reliability issues especially since I plan on riding the Road Glide like I stole it......just like all my other rides. So has anybody been stranded on a later model bagger or had many problems? Just hope they can put up with my abuse....really just getting on the throttle.
Never had any problems with my new one. My'61 FL broke down on me a few times in the 19 yrs I owned it,it only seemed to quit when it was pouring down rain or below 30 degrees..
I've been stranded with a blown tire. Are Harley's the only ones that blow tires? It's funny, most of the bikes at the side of the road that I have stopped to offer assistance have either been Hi $ customs or foreign (brits and japs).
I love my Ultra, 20th Harley...have owned three GL1800 Wings....great bikes, just didn't fit me..
If I was into lots of miles, wanted a sport bike on Steroids...I'd go with the wing. It's fast. handles great, has all the buttons, passenger comfort is outstanding....
Best to go out and test ride a Ultra and a new Wing and make your choice...on this forum your going to get mostly positive Harley responses, go to gl1800riders.com and you'll get the positive wing responses. you have to make the choice for yourself, not someone else making it for you.
I can't say anything bad about the Wing other than I didn't fit me, I'm 5'7" and the position of the drivers pegs and reaching around the motor to reach the highway pegs didn't work for me, you may be different and it'll work like a charm for you....try them both.
BMW, way too tall for me, didn't even look at it..
