I don't know about that. I got stuck in WDC last year and I wasn't sure if I or the bike was going into the Patomac, but one of us was going.

I like the looks of the LeNale, and the price. Bookmarked it also, thanks for the link. I have seen several on e-bay, and was watching some. I thank you for this thread, cause now I will buy it from the builder and support a fellow vet.
Yeah, I know they are air cooled but you got to be moving air through the fins to keep the temp down. When you are sitting still on a hot humid day, your engine is going to get really really hot. I plan to do a lot of parade duty with my bike so I think it will be good insurance. Thanks again.

And Lenale themselves doesn't recommend that you use the fan to "keep the temps consistently lower".

But it's your bike and your money.
I dont think this oil analysis will show the effects of high heat on the crankshaft causing runout that will eventually lead to failure, I do think some oils on the market are tough, and will not show thermo breakdown even though certain engine components are being warped due to heat, I mean most of the engine is aluminum. I think those fans are a great idea, I like the idea of cooling the oil cooler with fans even better.

Default Lenale Cooling Fan

Many may think I'm foolish and waisting money, but here in South Florida it gets hot and there is a lot of stop and go traffic. On more than on occassion I have had to pull over and let my bike cool down (at least with my 2007 FLHTC), I now have a 2010 FLTRX and have not had as many heating issues ( mainly because I have not rode as much due to my schedule), but cooking in the sun isn't my favorite pastime, and anything I can do to keep my bike and I cool I'll try. I'll be reporting back on how both items work. By the way I have a Sta Cool vest that I use to keep me cool in the summer, every biker ought to try it, won't leave home without mine.

Default Install Lenale Fan with or without horn bracket dilemma

I wanted to share pic but also have dilemma. My dilemma is that I don't have my original OEM Harley Horn hence no Bracket. Looks much cleaner without the bracket. Also kinda make sense with cooling since it is closer to the V-Twins. Is there any reason to install the Horn Bracket to reduce vibration or longevity of the the Lenale fan ? Everything clears all around without the bracket but wanted some opinions and maybe even lenale eng. that its okay not to use the horn bracket. Also for those who have a Air horn, I relocated on the other side of the bike near the Passengers rear peg. Everything has good clearance and no issues thus far.

Here ya go. Its over 3 years old and I never really used it. The one time I did need it last summer when stuck in Garden State Parkway traffic it no longer worked, the bearing was wasted and the fan blade was hitting the side if the fan cage. The HD Dino oil got up near 300 degrees and the bike just pinged a little under hard acceleration, no other issues. Like 05Train said, these bikes can handle the heat, my engine is proof of that and runs just fine. Since the fan is long out of warranty, I am tempted to replace it with a $10 PC fan.

After reading all of the posts in here, I'm not interested in joining the debate whether or not you need a fan. To each his own.

But to the statement quoted, I have some pretty solid evidence that the fan will do just that.
