What is the best way to tie down a RG in an enclosed trailer, the trailer has a tubular wheel chock in front. Need to know best way to attach straps in front with a shark nose, and rear
From: Ontario, Canada home of the TAX YOU TO DEATH LIBERALS
I recently had to trailer. wrapped 2 nylon straps around the crash bar inside of the top support brackets and ratched them down to the floor. Front wheel was in a wheel chock and then criss-crossed two ratchet straps in the rear from the saddle bag bracket supports to the floor. Never moved and inch in 1700 miles. All was good.
I always tie my UC down just above where the fender brackets are on the front forks. I choke a softie around and ratchet it down, That way the forks don't have any pressure on them.
Here is something I welded up for my SG. You remove the seat and there a two tapped 3/8x16 holes. These holes are not used on a SG. I bolt the jig down and run the straps down from there. Nothing touches the bike and it is totally secure.
Soft ties around the frames downtubes, ratchet forward/down and out.
Another set of soft ties on the rear footpegs and ratchet straight out and down.
+1...use the frame downtubes. I have also used soft strap extensions and brought them up thru fairing and wrapped them around the bars. Strap comes up thru fairing. Downtubes are much easier. I never liked using the crash bar....shows too much flex as you ratchet it.

+2 on this method, the crash bars place to much outside tension and pull on the mounting points
