1000 Mile Service

New FLHX, fist bike/Harley in 30 years, week and a half latter I'm ready for my 1,000 mile service call. Can I bring my own fluids in and have them fill or will they only sell me the Harley stuff?

Personally I'd call the stealer and ask...some might and some might not.

The dealership I used to work at (until Saturday) allowed you to bring your own fluids in for services. We would also order non-HD fluids if it was requested

What ever you do, perform a thorough inspection after servicing before you pay for it. I was more trusting but there are too many stories about loose or missing drain plugs and other hardware. My son just had a 5K service done on his VRod and shortly thereafter had a flickering oil light at idle. I thought maybe his idle was low but he called his shop and asked if a flickering light was normal which it is not. So he checked his oil level and it wasn't even reaching the dip stick. Apparently not leaking and not filled to spec during the service. Lesson learned, but of course the service manager could not understand how that could happen.

It's going to be up to each individual dealership. I know some dealers that use non HD oil as well as HD. Best to call where you are taking it and talk with them.
