My wife has constantly complained about wanting to get another road king Since I got my 1st ultra in 05. She gave me the ok to get a Fat Bob next spring.
I want to have the touring bike for travel and when she's with me. Fat Bob around town and to work.Should I consider trading the Limited for the Road King. I know all the ins and outs of both models Has anyone made the switch from Ultra back down the ladder?
I Demoed a Fat Bob the other day and I ask myself as I headed home wondered If I really need a full bore touring bike.
I haven't said anything to her yet about the trade at all wanted to see what you'll had to say. before I did.
Well unlike you I get the "You only have one a$$ why do you need two bikes" from my wife but I ride 30k miles a year and I do most of that daily to and from work with just a few trips each year..At times I wish I had got a Road King they just have more soul. Only so much you can do with a fairing bike. I think the only thing I'd miss would be the radio and with the aftermarket being what it is a detachable fairing with some tunes for the long trips and a cool a$$ King daily sounds like a no brainer if your getting the go ahead from your other half I would in a heartbeat
Purchased a new '01 EGC in September of '00 and rode the wheels off it for the next eleven months. I got a wild hair to go back to a RKC (had a RK the year prior to the new '01 EGC) in the summer of '01 so I traded my EGC for the RKC. On the ride back from the dealer, I knew I made the wrong choice of bikes but was stuck with the RKC for a while. 10 months later I sold it with 400 miles on it.
The protection I get with the fairing means a lot to me plus you get the radio and gauges where you can see them.
IMO, you will miss the Limited; keep it and get the Fat Bob for your sporting around.
Are you seriously asking if you should get 2 bikes? Its my understanding that 1 person can only ride 1 bike at a time. If you feel you have the money to buy another HD and let them sit around...I say go for it. I once owned 3 motorcycles....found that I could only ride 1 at a time and then I found I didn't enjoy riding at all....I'm sticking with 1 bike.
