+1. As for the *******. They are as prevalent as they were years back. My wife runs around with pasties but hells bells their only **** for gawds sake. As far as cost don't eat in downtown Sturgis was too much money. If your gonna be there for the whole rally wait until late Saturday night or Sunday morning when the vendors are packing up to buy rally souvenirs.

I do it on the cheap. Tent camp at $20/nite at Elkview campgrounds. $1 McDonalds or Burger Kings buck double. To top that off I use the cheap octane gas all the way. Look around for a while, do some area rides and buy three t-shirts for $25.

Repeat the next year. This has worked for me for 8 years now. I even remember when Elkview was $15/nite.

Downtown Sturgis is nothing more than a State Fair and costume party rolled into one. We took our twin 10 year old boys and our 7 year old daughter to Sturgis...let me clarify, downtown Sturgis, and they loved it. We had a long talk about what they might see prior to arriving. The worst thing we saw was a woman wearing a chain bikini top and it just so happens SHE was walking with her little kid in tow. Other than that we saw NOTHING inappropriate. We had a fantastic time downtown and visiting tourist attractions in the vicinity. Use common sense when picking places to eat downtown. That bar/restaurant might be tame on the main floor, but pretty wild on the second floor so mom or dad should check it out first. I would agree that eating downtown is spendy. We like the Church breakfasts which are a good value and then plan on forking over some bucks for lunch and/or supper. There are so many shirt and souvenir vendors that deals can be found if you hold out a couple days. Don't forget that every neighboring town is a mini Sturgis and they all have shops selling stuff too and at pretty good prices. When we took the kidlings we camped in Hill City at Rafter J. I'm not sure why that place wasn't booked solid because it's pretty nice and located in the heart of all the attractions in the Black Hills area. Budget wisely according to your means and stick to it. Price attraction admissions prior to going and look for on-line deals. T-shirts are cool souvenirs but most the trinkets can be found on-line.
