Well I put my new E3 on the rear on Tuesday, used Dyna Beads to balance it. I was quite happy with the way it felt on the bike, seems a bit stiffer and more responsive than the 402. Heard good remarks on how it handled in the rain and was kind of curious on how it would do. Well I found out today. A storm came thru today about 20 min before quittin time and settled down to a steady light rain by the time I got done. Well I knew the way it rained that all the oil was washed off the road so I headed home. I had about 10 more miles to go when it started to POUR. It rained so hard a few cars pulled off the road, by now I was completely soaked so I just kept on going and it kept on pouring. So I just got done dumpin water out of my boots and ringin out my socks and figured I'd let you guys know that this tire is great. Not once did I feel a loss of traction. Now I can't wait to get one on the front. By the way I used the MU90B16 on the rear. Its a tight fit but nothing rubs and didn't have to modify anything.
This is good to know... can't help but ride in the rain down here during the summer months. Thanks for the wet traction review! I am up for new tires soon... I am thinking E3's as well.
around 3000 miles here and overall love the e3 better traction and handling , but i do get some tire hum from the front, doesnt bother me but might be a problem for some.
Yea they are hard to beat. Im at 10K on mine, seems like they are holding up as good as others had suggested. The front looks brand new still. Bike handles great in the rain, and corners better than the OEM's for sure.
I put on a set last Thursday...MT90 in front, MU90 in thte rear.
S/O & I went for a 'break-in' ride yesterday. Put on a little over 200 miles.
Found some curvey back roads. It rained the night before and there were some scattered wet spots. They corner so much better than my old ME880's! I found I could take some familiar 'S turns' 10-15 MPH faster than I dared before!!
All in all, I'm going to like these tires!
I never had a problem with the 402s b-4, getting 15k out of the rears but i am impressed with the E3 on the rear. It handles much better (almost like rear steer) and works great in the rain. Only have 6k on it now, but very pleased. I also went with the MU90B16 and is a very tight fit on an 02 Ultra.
I just replaced my tires, 2nd E3 on the front and 3rd E3 on the the rear at 51000 miles.
I'm also trying dyna beads for the first time.
The E3s have been great and the dyna beads do seem to make the ride smoother.
At first you think OK but I have new rubber front and rear, but then I'm noticing how much smoother the ride really is.
We'll see how it goes but dyna beads make sense to me.
