Default Inner primary removal

How hard of a job is it to remove and put back on the inner primary?I tried everything to tighten-up and keep tight the shifter lever on my 02 Electra-Glide,now I'm just going to replace it.Thanks

Get yourself a service manual and take your time. Shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks,I have one and I'll give it a shot. Was just wondering if it's a big ordeal for someone with average mechanical abilities.

Pretty simple. Will probably take you about 3 or 4 hours since it's your first time. Nothing to be scared of though.

nothing to be scared of and I can't think of anything about that procedure that the manual doesn't do a very good job of explaining.

You shouldn't have to pull the inner primary to replace or tighten a shifter shaft. There should be a socket head screw that you can access from underneath beween the engine and the primary.

The inner primary has to come off to replace the shift lever between the trans and primary. There isn't enough room for it to slide off, at least not on my bike. I had to replace mine last year.

I'll be going in there myself shortly. Stupid shifter seal is leaking big time.

Ordered a much better seal from SKF so mayyybe it won't happen again for a long time. Not looking foward to all that wrenching for such a simple fix.

The only hard thing is getting to the starter fasteners from the other side. And thats not too hard.
Other than that? Cake.
