Thank you all for you suggestions. However after doing extensive searching I found on an 89 ultra classic you must remove the head light completely and inside at 2 4 8 10 oclock positions there are 4 nylon nuts that hold the batwing on after loosening the windshield and the two by the hand grips loosen the 4 inside and the batwing slides off. I hope this helps someone! after finding the mystery nuts the whole process only takes a short time to remove the front cover. Happy Scootering all!
