Guys, feel like a fool for asking, but I can't seem to find all the screw to take the outer faring off my 03 Electra glide Classic. I have on 02 workshop manual and it just seems to mention screws below the lower side glove boxes...mind is not the ultra, has no lower glove boxes. I thougth I had removed all screws..three on the windshield, and two lower ones on the side. Also took off the chrome rim around the front headlight but the faring still seems to be hung up somewhere on the bottom. Am I missing something? This should be a simple task, but my eyes and age are getting older and I know I must be missing something. Can anyone tell or show me what screws I am missing? I have to take of the outer faring becuse I have a Dakota digital antennae mounted inside and I believe I have some loose wires....sometimes the radio signal get static or dissappears if I shake or give the faring a hard tap. Also, where inside the faring would be the best placement to stick the antennae, or doesn't it really matter? Thanks in advance for any help.
7 screws total hold the outter fairing on....
3 outside where the windshield is
2 in the inner fairing, outside the speakers
2 down below , right inside the fork tubes, between the upper & lower triple tree
Once all 7 are out, pull the outer fairing forward, disconnect the light & it lifts off
edit: looks like dawg & me answered at the same time
I have to turn the front wheel sharply to the right then take out the lower screw down by the forks, then sharply left to remove the other one. Those are the ones giving you problems. Don't pry on the faring until you have taken all seven screws out or you could break off one of the standards, don't ask me how I know. Then you have to work with fiber glass to put it back on.
Ride Safe, Road Hazards are everywhere.
Thanks for the help...I had the bike on a front wheel chock and I was trying to look for the bottom two screws without being able to turn the bars.....I will give it another shot today....Thanks
