Default 07 Street Glide fairing vibes

Was on a ride yesterday and durring the ride I noticed a lot of vibration in the right side of my fairing at certain RPMs. I'm thinking one of the brackets failed on that side and was wondering how hard it was to disassemble the fairing to check it out. I have seen some posts on this and from what I see on the bike it looks like five screws and the head light trim and it will come apart. Any help on this would be appretiated.

Everything should be a T27, unless you have a chrome trim piece on the outer fairing. No need to take off the trim ring, just unplug the headlight when you get the fairing off.

- Remove the three screws from the windshield, remove windshield. I usually put the center screw back in to hold the
fairing so I can take it out last.
- Remove the top screw on the inner fairing to the left and right of speakers, where the wind deflectors on the ultra
would be. I normally take all three out.
- Remove two screws under the fairing cap near the black rubber donuts on the forks.
- Remove the middle screw again and remove the fairing.

The fairing braces are silver and right below the speakers on each side. One end connects to the speaker and is where they broke on mine.

Easy job, about 30 min. Good luck, hopefully I haven't forgotten anything and this helps.

The only tricky part is finding the lower screws, look underneath the fairing switch cap right next to where you see the rubber fork stops - you'll see them. Really an easy job - I think I have my outer fairing off at least twice a weekend.

Don't mess with the headlight, it stays on the fairing.

1) Put a towel or something on top of the front fender to protect it from dropping stuff on it.
Because you will.

2) Take off the windshield by unscrewing the three screws on top.
Then put the center screw back in about half way.
This will keep the fairing from falling off unexpectedly.

3) Then there will be four screws on the back (2 on each side)
One by the fairing mirrors and one just inside the fork tubes (this one if hard to see for a fat man).

4) After you get the four off the back, stand in front and hang onto the headlight and unscrew that windshield screw that's was put back on.

It should fall right off

5) Then squeeze the headlight plug on both sides and pull the plug off the backside of the headlight.

Sorry no pictures

While you are in there you should check the 2 main braces that run vertical. Both of mine broke near the top of the fairing.I have an 06 sg with 34000 miles on it when they broke.

I'm told HD has finally redesigned these poorly constructed brackets, so perhaps once the originals all break and are replaced it will be the end of it. The vertical brackets are harder to replace and are fairly expensive, so if you have a broken one you might consider simply repairing it. Check out my write-up on this here. If the verticals are not broken you might want to modify them according to the same write-up. So far these mods are holding up well.

I had mine replaced about a month ago - I think I just missed the bracket re-design, because the one's they installed look the same as the originals...bastards.

Thanks for the pointers. It was that well made brace for the speaker.
