IPod acting up
Need a little help. When I hook up my IPod it works just fine at idle but when I take off and ride down the road the left speaker crackles. There is no crackle with the radio and no crackle with the IPod at idle or when the IPod is hooked up to ear buds. What's up with that? BTW, my speakers are newest generation Hog Tunes.
Any thoughts?

Could be a bad connection in the ground, or return path to the speaker, or the stereo. A faulty chassis ground can sometimes allow interference from the charging system. It often presents as a high pitched whining the gets higher as you accelerate, but crackling is also possible. Check all of your connections. Make sure they are clean and tight.

I had an iTouch with the same problem. I searched online and found a tip to clean the part where the cable goes into the iTouch.
Take a q-tip and pull most of the fibers off. You want the q-tip to be a snug fit but not super tight. then dip the q-tip into rubbing alcohol. You don't want the q-tip to be saturated, just wet. Slowly work the q-tip into the cable IN hole and twist in one direction only. If it comes out black, that's good, you're cleaning the contacts inside. Keep doing that until it's clean. I found out that I would have to do it every couple of rides, I THINK the vibration makes it the cable/contacts wear faster than normal.

+1.
I had this problem on my truck: bad third-party cable. A genuine Apple-branded cable hooked me up right, after getting two other pieces of crap.
Good luck.
