2010 Limited Initial Thoughts
Today on the way to work it was running so good that I was having second thoughts about the updgrades.......but only for a second....:-)
Pros so far: Love the 103, titanium guages, stock seat. The lip inside the fuel spout is different than on my 09. It seemed to take the fuel better without little droplets coming back out on the tank. It's got slits in it now rather than being solid.
Cons: I like the colors although the black does look dirty quicker (of course we all knew that). I also went to a biker bash and saw three other ones exactly like mine, that never happened with my root beer 09. I kind of miss the 5th gear whine. I always knew when I was in 5th gear.
All in all, I'm pretty happy and I think once I get the extras put on I'll be estatic.
Of course I am a bit prejudiced.4,400 miles / 2 months so far on "Lucile"... It's impressive enough that my son and daughter in law are picking up their own (blue/black) on Friday!
The cat did overheat the heat shields a bit while idling (left minor rough surface area on the chrome) but the Jackpot 2-1-2 has now fixed that heat problem. The dealer has already ordered replacement shields btw... love the warranty support !
My recommendation: get a cat free header, PCV, stage 1 filter (I went with KN 3930 because it fits the Limited without discarding any brackets, has a black backplate, and the bike still looks stock. <FuelMoto (SE) AF requires scrapping the ACR wiring bracket between the heads and it protrudes more than stock).>
I found no difference in performance between Jackpot slip ons and the stock mufflers, so I kept the stock and swapped off the Jackpots... I just prefer the tone.
One other addition I consider a "first accessory" for every bike: the BAL (Bright *** Light).
As for the seat, I'm considering trying a Zeppelin or Hammock to add height (31" inseam) but the stock new style seat is comfortable enough for most rides... it just doesn't allow any moving around due to the deep and short "saddle".
Enjoy !!
