Alot of great info/advise here. One thing I might add, we were on the BPR from Cherokee to Maggie Valley a couple of weeks ago and when you see the signs at the entrances of most of the tunnels that say "ROUGH PAVEMENT IN TUNNEL" they aint kidding. Slow down and be ready for it. As someone already mentioned in most of them you're not in them long enough for your eyes to adjust to the darkness so it's really hard to see the condition of the road in front of you.
A lot of very great ideas, opinions, suggestions. You can't go wrong with any of these. Along the BRP at the intersection of US58 in Meadows of Dan, VA, you will find Willville Biker Only Campground. I stopped there a couple of years ago, great guy that runs/owns the place. His name is Will Beers, guess he could have named it Beerville, might have become a very different place.
There are still some road construction places along the BRP, the Dragon is open. Be sure to visit Smokey Mountain H-D in Maryville. Go up US129 to US321 and turn south, they are just down the road. Nice people, very nice dealership offering anything you need from a rest stop to full service.
Have a nice visit and welcome to our area.
Just remembered. We rode some hwy (maybe two different hwys....atlas is in the other room) from either Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge, over to Maryville. A big part of it was right along side a river. It was nice that day and there were a bunch of people swimming and rafting down the river. Great Ride!!!!!
