Talk about timing
I just traded my 2001 bagger for a new 2010 EGC. I went by the dealer yesterday and asked if they sold ithe old bike. It was in the shop because the stator went bad, just sitting on the lot. It was fine when I dropped it off. This is the second stator on that bike. The first one went bad at a HD dealer in Rapid City, on their lot as I arrived. Maybe going to dealers causes bad stators.
The good news is that if I would have spend $500 on that bike to repair it, I might have decided to ride it a bit longer to justify the repair costs. The stars crossed in my favor on this one.
