[quote=Egldr05;6954800]I actually have a couple of reasons for wanting to do this. I'd like to see if I can quiet things down a little and I thought I might like to go back to the 2 pipe look for a while, (yes I know about the FC ghost pipe).
I have never cared for the look of the pre-09 stock exhaust so I've gathered all the bits and pieces required to install the stock 09 exhaust on my 05. Being a bit concerned about losing power I've ordered a V&H Power Duals head pipe with Khromewerks 3.5 HP Plus mufflers. I'm taking the chance that if the 09 stock head pipe can be made to work on the earlier bikes the aftermarket head pipes should also work (I hope).
Here's the build, hopefully I won't lose too much with this exhaust.
You will have to modify the cross-over pipe on the 09 to make it clear your '05 oil pan.
Khrome Werks is now making a similar stlye dual exhaust header for early model year bikes. See here......on my list of to gets.

I'm replacing the oil pan with the newer style so that won't be an issue. I've done my homework as far as installing the stock 09 system on the earlier bikes but it appears I'm going to be the guinea pig on installing a 09 aftermarket head pipe on an earlier bike.
I've seen the KW pipe but rejected it based on how low it appears to hang and I'm not crazy about how exposed the hangar appears to be. I like the looks of the Power Duals.
I had an '09 pipe on my '05. I made a crossover to make it work with the stock oil pan. Make sure you get the '09 transition mount (I have never actually seen one, or know if it bolts right up), but the stock trans mount definitely wont work....the D&D fatcat mount is near perfect for the '09 header oddly enough. Good luck in the transformation. I also like the under crossover look.
I'd seen that Krome Werks exhaust in one of the bagger mags a couple of months ago, and got all excited and emailed the company. At the time, they weren't ready for release, and so I just figured I'd wait until they were. Since then, I've decided they probably wouldn't work for me. It appears that you lose more ground clearance, which is already kinda scarce on these bikes. I don't mind too much grinding down my footboards, but I'd really hate it if I ground down my crossover pipe.

Thanks,
I bought all the 09 mounts and have already purchased the oil pan and 09 crossover so hopefully I'll be all set.
Let the experiment begin. I received my Power Duals and Khromewerk mufflers and will be playing with this on and off over the weekend. I pulled the FC and put the new head pipe in place.
I'm not 100% sure about fitment as I still need to change out the oil pan but it looks like it should work. The down side is it appears I'll have to remove the Bagger Brace as it looks like it will interfere. Not too much of an issue as next on my list is the Glide-Pro setup.
