Default Replaced Fatcat?

Has anyone swapped out their Fatcat for something else, if so why? I'm giving it some thought for no other reason than I like to change things up once in a while.

I replaced the FatCat on my RG with a Boarzilla.... cause I went to a BIGGER motor that needs more pipe than a my trusty FatCat.

Actually, I've been running FatCat(s) since they came out, in 2002.

If ya find something better.... let me know.

I'm thinking about going back to a Supertrapp 2-1 just to quiet things down, but I'm sure I'll miss my Fatcat if I do.

I changed to the new V&H Pro Pipe Chrome. Really liked my Fatcat(s) but could not handle the noise level anymore.

This new pipe is not as aggressive sounding as the Fatcat but make no mistake, it is angry as hell sounding when you get on it but on the highway....pure bliss.... quiet. No more ringing ears. That was my problem with the Fatcat. It sounded aggressive ALL the time. It would never give my ears a break.
I like the look of the Pro Pipe better as well and it does not burn pants or have a weird bend in them like the Fatcat.

For my power-hungry-junky friends: I am certain that they do not perform as well as the Fatcat, but if I lost anything in power...I can't tell. It performs well in my opinion.

Another thing that attracted me to it is that you can get it for like 480 vice 700+.
Great pipe. Worth a look anyway. Here is a crappy video I took with my camera. The bike had no A/C or tuner on it at this time (Stock + pipe):

I actually have a couple of reasons for wanting to do this. I'd like to see if I can quiet things down a little and I thought I might like to go back to the 2 pipe look for a while, (yes I know about the FC ghost pipe).

I have never cared for the look of the pre-09 stock exhaust so I've gathered all the bits and pieces required to install the stock 09 exhaust on my 05. Being a bit concerned about losing power I've ordered a V&H Power Duals head pipe with Khromewerks 3.5 HP Plus mufflers. I'm taking the chance that if the 09 stock head pipe can be made to work on the earlier bikes the aftermarket head pipes should also work (I hope).

Here's the build, hopefully I won't lose too much with this exhaust.

05 FLHTCX
98"@10.5 (static)
Kury TC26g cams
Heads fully ported (oversize valves, etc.) to compliment cams being used.
HPI 48mm throttle body
Darkhorse crank (Timken conversion)
3:37 gear ratio
TMAT
Fatcat (quiet baffle)

went from the d&d fatcat to supertrapp 2-1 to quiet the bike down. worked, and am very happy with the supertrapp. that being said, if the d&d were as quiet as the supertrapp, i would have stayed with d&d; really like the look and quality of d&d.

I had the D&D Fatcat on my '04 for about 2 mos. while I found a shop to weld 02 bungs on my Rinehart TD headpipes. I was very happy to reinstall the TD's; the Fatcat seemed much louder than the TD's and I never got used to the single pipe.

Check your baffle first. I had the Fatcat with the standard baffle and although lI oved the sound, after 4 or 5 hours on the road it got to be a lttle much. Then I replaced it with the quiet baffle. Quiet is still relative to the original (loud) standard baffle. Still has the great Fatcat sound but at cruise rpms it gets much quieter. Now I have the best of both worlds.
They also make a concenctric quiet baffle which I understand if much quieter, however at the cost of lost performance.
To order the baffle was easy. I called D&D and for about a hundred bucks they sent me out a quiet baffle in a few days. Replacing the baffle is not easy, but can be done if you follow their directions exactly. By the way, this is a very popular question and the quiet baffle is a very popular solution.

good luck.

Yep, I have the quiet baffle. Sound alone is not my reason for making the change. I'm also making the change just for the sake of change. Sometimes I can't help myself. I'm an admitted exhaustaholic. The FC has been on my bike longer than any other exhaust. It's time to fall off the wagon.
