Default new 2010 FLHTP QUESTIONS

I'm getting a new cop bike from a dealer over 1000 miles away, so... stock muffler, stock 103 setup... anyway, I don't like quiet bikes.

I'm wondering about having them do diff slip-ons, maybe bigger air cleaner, maybe diff computer download... I was planing on doing this when I get it home at a private shop. I'm wondering about maybe just louder slip-ons for the ride home and do the rest here...

or do nothing.

any thoughts would be helpful.

What is the advantage of having them do it vs your local connections? Financed with the bike? I've seen people stress out for months trying to pick the right setup. I wouldn't rush into it just for the ride home. Plus quieter mean less fatigue, so you could get home sooner! ha ha Congrats on the new bike!

No hurry to do it right now... I'm spending 2 days in Yellowstone on the way home , then the Bighorn Mtns then Sturgis and the Black Hills. I was thinlking a little noise.. you know... to keep the bears away (LOL).

I don't pick it up till 7-16 so there's time for the dealer to make it make noise... I just don't know what I want to do.

Congratulations on the new ride!

Swapping slip ons and air cleaner is such a simple job, why deny yourself the pleasure of doing it yourself? You don't even need a manual for this job.

I don't have a clue what the dealer charges in labor cost for a stage I upgrade, but I suppose it's an hour and a half or so. The money you save can be put back into better componants. Take a little time and shop around a bit. That might well save you even more money down the road by not changing out parts twice. Take your time and make sure you hear the mufflers first.

Lots of guys on the forum have reported very good results with the Fuel Moto stage I package. It would be worth your time to drop them an email and get an estimate on costs.

Dude,

that's kinda what I was thinking... I'm not the most mechanical guy on the block, but I think I can handle slip-ons and a bigger air cleaner.

and the fuelmoto is a do-it-myself dealio, too? this is instead of taking it in for a dnyo after changing the airflo, right?

People have told me (local dealer) that if I change to louder pipes and bigger/better air cleaner it would need to be dyno'd...
