Default New Exhaust/Fuel Pak Question

I did a search on this and found a couple helpful threads but couldn't really find the exact answer to my question.

I recently installed the Vance and Hines Big Shot True Duals on my 03' RKC. The bike runs great over 45 mph but when I'm going at lower speeds, specifically in 2nd or 3rd gear (sometimes 1st too), I sometime get a hiccup or a studder which I never got before the exhaust change. I am assuming the bike is running lean.

My ? is am I right that the bike is running lean and would the Vance and Hines Fuel Pak or any other fuel pak or power commander remedy this issue?

Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks

Changing JUST the exhaust should not have too much effect, but this could be some of your issue. The bikes run lean no matter what, when you introduce more "free-flow" it can only get leaner. Add a high flow air filter and now you have some good flow going, you will want to add some type of fuel mangement system. You'll get all kinds of opinions on this, you need to decide what is best for you. Fuel Pak is a good option if those are the only mods you plan, it's cheap and easy. PC-V is also very popular as are several others.

Mine acted a bit different. With just V&H slip ons mine would pop like crazy on deceleration. The Fuel Pak and high flow breather sure smartened it up. The V&H Fuel Pak works great if you plan no other mods. Very easy to install yourself.

Get the Fuel Pak or PC, if it doesn't fix the problem, well you really needed it anyway. Sounds like it could be that low speed surge you get sometimes when running lean. Oh yeah, get the high flow A/C too, you'll be glad you did.

I had the same thing. Fuel pack works great! I'm running Vance TD's On my Ultra with a High flow air cleaner. Fuel pack has hundreds of combinations and great on line support.
