The first time is always the most painful especially on ones pride.

My wife has been riding with me for a while now. She has always said that if the bike is dropped while she is on it, she won't ride anymore. I think that it is a mind thing, like she is crashing. I don't know. I always make sure I am really watching what I do. If she were to quit riding with me, I might would have to stop riding.

It hurt my pride also, what is funny though, the other riders with me were almost more worried about the bike. It was actually quite comical afterwards.

There's two kinds of rider's...those that have gone down and those that are going. I think I read that on here somewhere and it is true. *knocks on wood* I haven't gone down on a bike since 1979. It was totally my fault. I was looking at a flag girl. She was very hot and smiling at me, which of course made matters worse. Unless you're gay (not that there's anything wrong with that), I'm sure you would've been looking at her too. Anyways, it was tough lesson learned. Pay attention!!

It happened to me last week. First time in over 20 years, I guess I was due. I was getting ready to pull out of an oddly sloped drive when a cager pulled in front of me and I grabbed the front brake. Even knowing better sometimes doesn't help. Minor scratches on the bottom of muffler and bag. I didn't even want to look till I got it home but they are hard to even see. My pride was the only real damage.

Glad the bike faired well. I was actually impressed with how much protection was provided by the front/rear guards. I guess HD is guessing that they will be dropped.

I have to say I see alot of people here saying that dropping the bike is normal. Is this for real? I have been riding since I was 7 and have NEVER dropped my bike. My step dad rode for many years and NEVER dropped his bike either.

What?

If you're moving get you're feet up, this paddling is what causes people problems...

I don't think anybody is saying that it's "normal". Like I said in my post, I hadn't dropped one for 20 years. I think the point is if it happens dust yourself off and get back on.
