You may or may not like the fairing but let us know cause I would like to hear your opinion of the switch, an honest opinion please, of the difference(not looks, but the way it feels on the road) between the windscreen and fairing. BTW I have a FLHX and would like to know how you like the switch. Have fun on your trip!!!!
I like what you are doing, but why not just buy a Dead Center Fairing and still be able to take it off in 30 sec.? I've went back and forth over the last few years thinking I wanted a Street Glide. When I feel like that, I just ride it a few times without the fairing or shield and think, man I must be crazy! Having the Road King with fairing and touring pak quick disconnect is like have three bikes in my one car garage..... Still and all, I wish you luck.
^^^ i also went with the "convertible options" for my road king... i bought a dragonfly fairing w/ kenwood system, and a tour pak with detachable mount. i like options, and now have the radio for long trips, but the cool minimal clean look of the road king when cruising around town!
I do have a detachable batwing and tour trunk, along with lowers. I do like having the option of an "ultra" or a bare bones ride, or anything in between. It is time for a change.
sounds like we are in the same frame of mind. I have had my bike since 02 and it looks real simalar to yours "Orange base with green flames", love the bike but time to change. I am still getting parts together at the moment. keep us posted on your progress. and if you would give a list of parts used on the rebuild.
For some details. The wheels are 18 inch Renegade Tahoe as are the chrome rotors. The front fender will be SG that has been lowered and pinched. The small front fender that is the pics will not go on the bike until I have more time to make the curve match the rim. The tank is off an Ultra. I have a Lepara solo seat. The bags are off ebay and made of fiberglass. The rear fender is Baddad with flush LED light. As far as the fairing is concerned, all the inner brackets and supports came from my local dealer.
