Have my bike in getting a SERT tuner and Dyno'd, Guess that is a $1200 bill or so. When I dropped it off, I asked about putting on Heritage style bars onto my 2002 Road King. Dealer said only for 2007 and up bikes, won't work on 2002. Could look at others, but would have to probably change cables and most likely would cost in the $1500-$2000 range to change over depending on what was needed?? Really?
I asked about the heritage style as I have read so many on here indicate stock cables would work, but even if they didn't $1500-$2000?
Also asked about the $55 dollar Reduced Effort clutch kit. Was told that since into the primary to install, should put in auto adjusting chain tightener? or something to that effect, and because they need to pull off primary cover, add tranny fluid after etc. would be a $500 total install?
I don't know about the other mods you listed, but I was trying to get a quote to have 13" Cycle Smith apes put on my 09' Ultra at my local dealer. Parts were kinda reasonable, but the first figure he wrote down was $1,200, when I asked what that was for, he said labor. I said, I don't need a quote after all. Just thought I'd throw that out there. Seemed alfully high to change out bars, before parts.

Nate
$1200 for just labor is pretty high. It's an 8 hour job so just figure whatever the hourly rate is, then you know how much it should be.

Thank you! My point exactly. Hence, why I cut the quote short, and told him I don't need any further information. I since ordered a complete set-up from HCC Cycles in Texas, 14" X 1 1/4" swedged to fit 1" controls bagger apes, pre-wired internally with throttle sensor, wire extentions and plug ends (3), complete chrome controls, clutch and throttle side. chrome switch housings with chrome switch caps, chrome levers, braided extended clutch and front brake lines, down to the calipers. Only thing needed to add is the bushing upgrade, and grips. They had the bushings I already had the grips. A real plug and play kit for $1,000 delivered. A no brainer.
So there does seem to be a trend here..lol. Wished I got paid that kind of hourly labour. I passed on the handlebars of any kind based on that quote. My son and a friend changed theirs, so I have some help if needed. Heated garage with space would be nice to make this a nice winter project. Unfortunately I don't have either
I will live with my handlebars for awhile. I think the tuner, dyno, and new monster ovals, plus clutch release kit will cost enough change for awhile, and gosh knows what else they will find to "suggest" I fix.
$1200 for a SEST and dyno????? That is a retarded price to pay...... I paid $300 for my SEST at one of those customer appreciation days and got it dyno'd for $350. That's $650 total. I did not get it dyno'd at a dealer. That crap is exactly why I try not to even buy parts from the dealer unless I absolutely have to. Those prices are unbelievably high.
Yea, what Joe477 said. I got my SERT (prior model of SEST) for around $300 and the dyno tune by a very reputable independent shop was $400. $1200 is insane for that service. I believe my local dealer had quoted me $800 for the job before I went to the indy.
