Wille G. posted this youtube link on another thread about a guy who's new windshield was cracked by a rock. I thought it was worth a thread of it's own. Thanks Willie.
I always knew that polycarb was better than acrylic but didn't know that the difference was this huge. We have a quarrys up here and so dealing with trucks loaded with rock is a way of life. Whenever I pass an oncoming truck and pup on Hwy 92, I move over as close to the right fog line as possible just to increase my odds. But if I'm doing 65 and the truck is doing 65 in the opposite direction that's a 130 mph impact if a 2' to 4" quarry spall get's away. It happens and I've had several busted truck windshields to proove it.
After seeing this video, my mind is pretty much made up that acrylic is TOTAL JUNK and that a quality polycarbonite screen could actually save my life.
Anyone know which vendors use polycarb and which vendors use acrylic?
