I had one for a few years and it worked fine. When I gave the bike a facelift it gave me the confidence to fit a full TD setup, having proved it works and I liked it..
Anyone have any pictures of their fullsac rear cylinder heat sheild ? I cannot seem to get this sheild on. seems like the clamp with the support to the starter is the problem . i have it the header turned several ways , i cant get the sheild on right
I had the kit on my bike, worked well and really helped the sound...just make sure both mufflers are baffled the same. The only reason I took it off was that I got a really good deal on a complete set of black duals and decided to go that route, If it had not been for that I would have left the Full Sac kit on.
I ran the fullsac conversion for a short while last summer. I probably would still have it on the bike, but I got a killer deal on a Rinehart TD exhaust, and that's what's on the bike now.
I got the fullsac for 2 reasons, mostly. First was heat reduction. I really disliked how much heat the stock y-pipe would put out during the summer months. Secondly, I had installed a PCV and the autotune was getting erroneous O2 readings at the rear cylinder due to exhaust reversion. My choices at the time were to go to a 2-1 system, or a dual exhaust, and I figured the fullsac conversion would let me get the bike tuned while I made a more long term decision. I actually liked it better than I though I was going to. Some guys will tell you the fullsac conversion leads to a low rpm torque loss, but it wasn't anything I felt on the street.
If you get the fullsac kit, spend the extra 50 bucks and get the Harley Goodies 24" heatshield. Re-using the stock heat shields in the manner suggested by fullsac looks cobbled together, and out of place on a 20K bike.
I had the kit on my 05' worked great. +1 on the heat shield, it wasn't available when I had the kit and it always kind of bothered me how it looked pieced together. Great add on though.
