Like I said there is no writing on it so I'm assuming its a washer but it was in its on plastic bag in with the cams. I've used this indy for years, he's been in buisness for 20 something years, but he definitly threw me when he called to ask for instructions, he stated that because they were not harley cams and they were made different, had a different shaft diameter, that he wasn't sure what the washer was for as there wasn't one on the stock cams.
It's most likely a spacer. As mentioned above they make several different thicknesses of them and they are used to align the cam sprockets. It talks about this in your service manual.
If it's a pretty thick washer, say around .100 it goes on the rear cam put your 34 tooth sprocket on , then the washer then put it into the camplate and put the outer gear. check to see that you hyave between .008/.012 endplay in each of the cams after they're installed.
Hope that helps
Stafford it is pretty thick, about like a normal washer would be, but I'm not following your instructions, could be cause I'm just getting tired. Are you saying the washer should go on the cam then install the cam into the cam plate or does it go on the outside of the cam plate once the cam has been pressed in??
