Lots of flood damaged cars and bikes out there. I would recommend looking for rust , corrosion and/or condensation inside electrical connectors, and inside the cases.

I've rebuilt a FATBOY (salvage title) that my friend went dn. on. Most can be great buys because if there is even a sm mark on something or frame it gets written up. I'm sure it depends on state, financing co. what the resale value is( usually 20% less). I would think you could get it for less. Check w who did the repairs and get a copy of the original estimate. I sold it w no problem, new tank, fenders, lights, handlebar, mirrors etc., all bolt on - off, and she was good to go.

If its tweaked, you will find small rust lines where the paint cracked. See if the numbers on the frame and engine match, and if those numbers match the title. If all is good, go for it. Good luck.
That is totally right information and good advice. The frame will tell a story if it has been bent.

As for value, I agree price is too high given the title. Make them a low ball offer to take or leave. Be prepared to own it if you offer is taken.

Mine was Salvage Title bike, did some research to learn it was a soft lay down all cosmetic (lots of fiberglass) and the engine gaurd, foot controls and so on, on one side. But the insurance totalled it.

I picked it up with 565 miles on it. Had it looked over by HD shop and had it state inspected before I bought it. Have not had one single issue, got 14,000 miles on now. And at the time the same bike on the floor in 07 was $5500 more to buy plus tax.

I'm happy but you need to do your homework.

I had one, no problem getting full insurance in OH. The only thing is when its time to sell a salvage title is harder to sell. Just make sure you get a hell of a deal and you will be OK.

It is all a choice and if the price is right they can be a good or great deal. If you do your home work and know what to look for. If you ever plan on selling I would reccomend not a savalge titled bike. JMHO

Many good deals on bikes out there if a person is willing to take the time to look and having cash is the best way to get a great deal. Have fun looking.
